Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) is a centrally funded technical institute established in 1994 and the sixth IIT established in India. Its academic programmes began in 1995. The institute is located on a 285-hectare campus on the northern bank of the Brahmaputra River, around 20 km from central Guwahati.
